The dealership was originally established in the mid 70’s as Steel Town Harley-Davidson®, in Duquesne Pennsylvania. It served as the go to dealership in Allegheny County throughout the mid '70s and '80s, including the struggling AMF years.
In the mid '80s, Steel Town Harley-Davidson® was renamed Heritage Harley-Davidson® and relocated across the Monongahela River to McKeesport. A few years later Heritage was once again on the move to a Frito-Lay® distribution center on Route 885 in West Mifflin, which is strategically located on a major artery servicing the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
In 2004, Toby O’Brien purchased the business and took a much different approach to reshape the future and the culture of the dealership. He immediately overhauled staffing, retooled the service department, and upgraded the obsolete computer system. In addition, he modernized and redesigned both the interior and most importantly the philosophy of the dealership.
Together, owner, Toby O’Brien, and general manager, Lori Flanigan, set about a new store design and began hiring and training a new work force, which would share a common desire and commitment to make Hot Metal Harley-Davidson® a destination, where buying a Harley is a much fun as riding one.
A new badge of honor flies above the dealership, Hot Metal Harley-Davison– a name forged in the rich history of Pittsburgh, which represents family-values, hard working people, trust, and a passion for motorcycles. Today the company is a premier Harley-Davidson dealership and a true success story.
